Dr. Himmelvo believes that wellness and the concept of whole health should not just be reserved to a select few, but instead should be a part of life’s basic necessities like a balanced meal, shelter, or warm clothing. There is a direct relationship between the health of our society (obesity epidemic, increased use of anti-depressants, continued prevalence in cancers despite advanced technologies, etc.) and the investment we put in understanding our health and the options available for prevention, for lifestyle changes, for accessibility to alternative remedies to supplement conventional methods. Primary care has historically been considered the “gateway to specialty care”, but what if it was the gateway to something more, something lasting, something more equivalent to doing the greatest amount of good for the greatest amount of people at a point in their lives where they can still make decisions about changes and attitudes to personal health? As a primary care physician, Dr. Himmelvo wants to give her patients the tools to create “wealth” in their health and that of their families.

 

Jane T. Himmelvo obtained her Doctorate in Medicine (MD) in Chicago at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her training in Houston at the Baylor College of Medicine at the Texas Medical Center. Prior to relocation to the Bay Area, she co-founded three successful primary care clinics in Houston.
